Welcome to Fall 2026: A SEASONAL SHIFT.
Five years ago I started working in Mexico City with a friend of a friend. Salvador and I came to a working partnership that has become a big part of my creative process, and something I really look forward to. Once a year, I head south to Mexico City to work with him and his team. In the five years of our working friendship, we have shot at flower markets at 5am, we have shot in busy streets of the bustling city, we have built sets under the Mexican sun of giant ice blocks and florals; each step being carefully taken to bring my vision to live. It’s a collaboration and a place that brings me so much inspiration.
For A Seasonal Shift I wanted to do something different and new. I have been really drawn to inspiration from early 2000s Banana Republic and JCrew, to forever favorite brands like Costume Nationale and other references that helped me create this softer, more refined studio vision. We stripped away gimmicks or props to let the product and the lifestyle that emerges from these projects come to life.
For this photo shoot, I did the styling. This process and the mindset that styling requires is something that really simultaneously makes me anxious and completely in the zone as a creative. As someone with insane amounts of ADHD and a love of procrastination, slowing down to organize myself, and dial in a vision harnesses all my control and focus. I pulled from my favorite brands: Saemdi, Shaina Mote, Callahan, and selected archival pieces from my new passion project @destination.mon to bring to life this sun-drenched, slow moving editorial that feels equal parts masc and femme, that feels understated and ironic in all the right ways. I wanted a project that felt like it was elevating IB to where I want it to go as a brand---and I feel like we achieved that.
This collaboration couldn’t have happened without the talented team we work with time and again in Mexico City. Our photographer, Salvador Hernandez, reflected on the energy of the shoot. “As creatives with a taste for drama, we're often drawn to the big and ambitious, however this time, we chose simplicity without losing the focus on the product and beauty. For me, A Seasonal Shift was about gathering the right mix of elements and letting them be, trusting in the talent of the team and staying present to find a beautiful image. Also, something that doesn't happen often and was such a highlight, was working with Ty as stylist as well. It was so much fun to see his layered, creative, quirky, edgy personality come through the looks and to get to know closer, the woman he has in mind for the brand.”
A Seasonal Shift is as much about the literal changing seasons we experience as a brand as it is an appreciation of the shifts I feel as a queer creative having a brand for 12 years. I hope you find some parallels in that for your own self as well. My experience at the helm of Intentionally Blank is all about these shifts, about the dynamic of relationships like the one I have with the team in Mexico City---about the push and teamwork it takes my entire team to mount projects like this. Welcome to a Seasonal Shift, a tight fall collection accentuated with Autumnal color stories, fresh heel shapes and new takes on IB trends we know you love from us.
From stills to video, the final presentation of this shoot is something we are all very proud of. We worked with Luis Ibarlucea on video production, who took us into a world built around this campaign. ”Working on A Seasonal Shift, I really felt like we were all very in sync with the mood we wanted to create. It’s always a challenge to take those ideas from the brief and start bringing all the pieces together: the talent, the location, the art, the styling, while also staying open to what’s happening in the moment and playing with the elements we have in front of us. I wanted the video to feel like a small world of its own, playful, cinematic and full of personality. That’s something I always love about working with Intentionally Blank. There’s so much freedom to propose ideas, experiment and let unexpected things happen. We’ve been working together for years now, so at this point it really feels like family. The shoots become this space where fashion and creativity come together, but also where we genuinely have a lot of fun. There are always jokes and laughs along the way. Thank you for always giving us the freedom to create, experiment and enjoy the process. I think the final results say a lot about that.”
